What is Biblical Counseling...
Biblical counseling is the practice of applying the unfailing and timeless truths and principles of God’s Word to the very real problems that we experience in life. We believe that Scripture is sufficient for addressing all areas of life, and that it is powerful to bring about lasting change. We believe that hope is found in the person and work of Jesus Christ and that no meaningful change can be seen apart from a personal growing relationship with Him. We also believe that God has created and uniquely positioned His body, the church, to care for hurting people. We strive in counseling and in life to be Christ- centered, church-focused, and biblically based.
What Can I Expect…
Practical Biblical Counsel
You can expect that the counsel you receive will be firmly rooted in the God’s Word. You can also expect it to be practical as we work with you to carefully understand your situation and how God’s Word informs our thinking and calls us to change in ways that are pleasing to Him in those areas.
Privacy and Care
You can expect to be cared for respectfully in love. Everything that is discussed in counseling will be held in the strictest of confidence except where, in the counselor’s judgment, there is a Biblical requirement to involve others (i.e. church discipline).
Weekly Homework
You can expect to be given assignments to be completed between weekly counseling sessions. These assignments are carefully designed to move you forward in the counseling process and promote lasting change. We believe that change doesn’t happen in an hour session but in the effort and work that you invest in-between sessions.
Time
Change takes time. Replacing old habits and building new habits of thought and behavior does take some time. In most cases, we will ask individuals to commit to regular counseling sessions for a period of around 3-4 months. This, of course, varies by case.
Cost
All counseling services are freely provided as a ministry of Wright Baptist Church without cost. It would be our privilege to serve you.
